Content Marketing for SaaS Service Providers: Play the Common Game in an Uncommon Way

Love numbers?

Easy… it’s not about maths. I’m talking growth, stats, and of course revenue. If growth is anything to go by, it’s daunting. You should invest your time, skills, creativity, passion, and resources to scale greater heights.

But what if there’s a deceptive shortcut to exponential growth?

As a company owner or marketer, you’re invested in marketing. But have you considered content marketing? If not, you’re missing out. The prevailing ravings and praisings around content marketing say something special about it.

And if you’re looking to up your content marketing game, it’s only fair that you refine your strategy. Wondering how? Read on…

1. Woo Your Readers With The Desire to Buy

Gloss over your Google feeds and you’ll see lots of ebooks and whitepapers spread all across the page. Coming up with content is great. Regardless though, what sets great businesses apart is their ability to produce epic content that’s not only endearing to their readers, but that ultimately leaves them restlessly itching to buy your product.

Good news: this is no rocket science. You don’t even need countless accolades or vast marketing experience to get this right. Before jotting down any marketing pieces, pause and ask yourself this question:

Is the content engaging, educative, and inspiring?

If you can seamlessly answer all these questions, you’ve already slammed the first giant. Your clients should learn something new every time they toggle through your website. Plus, remember to provide as many free valuable online resources as possible that’ll make your target readers come back running for more.

2. Don’t Just Blog Regularly, Blog Prudently

It’s no doubt that blogging is an all-time high practice in nearly all businesses on the planet currently. So why should you even join this common game?

Well, it’s not about being part of this common game. The idea is to play the common game in an uncommon way. Don’t be swept over by the thrilling, yet deceptive facade of just blogging “regularly”. Some leading SaaS companies churn out only 2 blog posts every week–but they still tick at their game.

Is this a free ticket to laziness? No, it comes with a higher challenge: the burden of offering immense value. There’s no problem in posting 5 blog posts every six hours provided they’re power-packed with immense value.

Always keep an eye on value while writing your marketing piece. Strip it down to its core. Turn it upside down and squeeze out value to the best possible extent.

If you’re not blogging the right way, you’re missing the chance to:

  • Position your brand as credible and trustworthy.
  • Drive traffic to your site.
  • Set yourself apart from your mind-boggling competitors.

You’d of course want to do these things right to upscale your content marketing campaign strategy.

3. Focus On Simplicity

Imagine you’re an American native based in New York. Then, you suddenly meet your  African friend with whom you’ve been chatting on Facebook on his first visit to your city. He is clueless about the magnificent skyscrapers and sidewalks around town. So, you can’t begin telling him about how unbearable traffic was last week.

The same applies to SaaS content marketing.

To end off, SaaS is quite complex. Your job is thus to simplify the information to the best of your ability before finally presenting it to your target readers. While there’s this irresistible urge to throw a few technical words here and there, always remember that your readers won’t get it, and if they find it off-putting, they’ll take off as fast as possible.

Strive to simplify the complex words as much as possible. That way, your prospects will easily understand what you’re saying. Don’t fall prey to the misguided idea of tumbling out complex jargon to appear intelligent. Well, this “intelligence” doesn’t apply in the content marketing scene.
